[art #270]. Limited Edition Print by Steve Dunn.
The Jaguar XK120 (1948), shown here in silver was a
groundbreaking sports car that set new standards for performance and
style when it was unveiled. Its name came from its top speed: 120mph,
making it the fastest production car in the world at the time. Powered
by a 3.4-litre straight-six engine, the XK120 produced around 160 bhp,
which was impressive for the era. It featured twin SU carburettors, and
the engine's smoothness was complemented by the car's streamlined body,
which cut through the air with grace.
The sleek, flowing lines of the XK120 made it an instant classic. Its long, swooping bonnet and
delicate front grille created an image of sophistication and speed. The
silver paint accentuates the car's aluminium bodywork, adding a touch of
modernity to its post-war design. Jaguar's XK120 went on to dominate
both the road and the track, winning races and breaking records
worldwide. It became the foundation for future Jaguar sports cars, and
its influence is still felt today.
