[art #236]. Limited Edition Print by Steve Dunn.
The Ford GT40 (1967) resplendent in yellow and bearing the JCB sponsorship logos
is a rare and formidable example
of Ford's pursuit of endurance racing glory. Powered by a
7.0-litre V8, the GT40's mission was clear: to conquer Ferrari and reign
supreme at Le Mans. This 1967 iteration with its refined
aerodynamics and suspension, was highly competitive and this
particular car was campaigned in various endurance events.
The yellow livery, along with the recognisable 101 number, made the car
stand out on the track amongst the more
numerous Gulf-liveried examples. The GT40's legendary status combined
with its aggressive styling and booming engine note made it one of the
most memorable cars of the 1960s embodying Ford's successful "total
performance" campaign. This yellow GT40 is a rare gem in motorsport
history.
