"Dodge Viper GTS" (1991)
The Dodge Viper GTS Coupe with its unmistakable blue paintwork and
white Shelby racing stripes is the embodiment of raw American
power and aggressive design. Introduced as a no-compromise sports car,
the Viper GTS took the automotive world by storm with its daring
approach to performance and styling.
The long bonnet (or 'hood'), wide stance, and
powerful lines of the GTS were inspired by the classic American muscle cars,
but its performance was firmly in the realm of modern supercars.
At the heart of the Viper GTS was an enormous 8.0-litre V10 engine that
produced a staggering 450bhp. With its lightweight chassis and
rear-wheel-drive layout the Viper could accelerate from 0 to 60mph in
just over 4 seconds and reach a top speed of over 180mph. The power was
harnessed through a 6-speed manual gearbox providing a visceral
and engaging driving experience that thrilled enthusiasts.
The blue with white stripes colour scheme paid homage to the legendary
Shelby Cobras, further connecting the Viper to American racing heritage.
The Dodge Viper GTS wasn't just about brute force; it also featured
