[art #246]. Limited Edition Print by Steve Dunn.
The 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2 is the epitome of Italian racing
excellence. Developed by Autodelta, Alfa's racing division, the TZ2 was
an evolution of the earlier Giulia TZ built to compete in the FIA's GT
class. Its low aggressive stance and lightweight fibreglass body
designed by Zagato reduced its weight to an astonishing 620 kilograms
(1,367 lbs), allowing it to compete with the best in endurance racing.
Powered by a high-revving 1.6-litre twin-cam inline-four engine, the TZ2
produced around 170bhp. Though small in displacement, the
engine's responsiveness, paired with the car's aerodynamic design, made
it a formidable competitor. The Giulia TZ2 could reach speeds of up to
160mph, and its advanced tubular frame chassis gave it excellent
cornering capability, making it incredibly agile on twisty circuits.
With only 12 examples ever built the TZ2 is an ultra-rare collector's
dream and a key piece of Alfa Romeo's motorsport legacy. Whether on the
track or in a museum, the TZ2's striking proportions and racing pedigree
make it one of the most celebrated Alfa Romeos of all time.
