Artwork detail

[art #249]. Limited Edition Print by Steve Dunn.

The 1967 Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider made famous by its starring role in the film The Graduate is one of Alfa Romeo's most famous open-top cars. Styled by Pininfarina the Duetto's clean rounded lines and "boat-tail" rear design made it an instant classic. With a sleek profile and stylish chrome bumpers, the Duetto's beauty is matched only by its driving pleasure.

Underneath the elegant bodywork lies Alfa Romeo's signature twin-cam 1.6-litre inline-four engine producing around 109bhp. The engine's smooth revs and lively performance combined with the car's light weight and nimble handling makes the Duetto a joy to drive especially on twisty country roads. The 5-speed manual transmission ensured drivers could make the most of its power while disc brakes on all four wheels could provide reassuring stopping power, a standout feature for its time.

As one of the last Alfa Romeos designed by Battista "Pinin" Farina himself, the Duetto represents a turning point in both the brand's design and automotive history. Its timeless design and fine handling continues to make the 1967 Duetto Spider one of the most desirable classic Alfa Romeo sportscars on the market today.
